In November 2022 I had the pleasure of photographing Dan & Sarah’s beautiful late Autumn wedding at Oakley Hall. Oakley Hall is a luxury Manor House wedding venue that is situated on the outskirts of Basingstoke in Hampshire. It is nestled within 315 acres of stunning grounds and gardens with 18th-century architecture and offers up a wide selection of wedding and event spaces.
The wedding day started with Sarah getting ready with her mum at the venue. As a couple, they had decided to keep their wedding day quite intimate and had chosen not to have any bridesmaids. This actually made the morning super calm as there were fewer people in the room compared to normal, meaning more space and less chaos. This, therefore, meant that the bridal prep space was tidier and easier to capture photos in, although some family members did come into the room later in the morning.
Dan was on site super early so I managed to get some photos of him with his dad and brother before the ceremony.
The ceremony was held in the Steventon room, which was decorated beautifully and one chair was left empty with a photo sitting on it in memory of Dan’s mum who sadly passed away 6 months before the wedding.
After the ceremony, the guests mingled downstairs by the bar and eventually everyone ventured outside into the cold for some group photos. I was very impressed by how long Sarah lasted outside with bare arms, hats off to all brides that brave the cold on their wedding day! It was certainly worth it though as we got some beautiful photos of Bride and Groom around the grounds of their Autumn Wedding at Oakley Hall. The venue provided the perfect backdrop with golden leaves from the trees and the sunset glowing behind.
It was then time for food, followed by speeches and the first dance. Dan & Sarah had a casual evening reception with Alan Oliver, an amazing guitarist playing throughout the day and into the evening. Sarah made lots of delicious tray bakes which you’ll see in the photos, and I was lucky enough to sample them.
I had such a nice capturing this lovely couple’s wedding and I wish them a lifetime of happiness together.
