Old Portsmouth Hot Walls engagement shoot at sunset
Last summer I had the pleasure of photographing Ali & Sofiya’s Portsmouth Hot Walls engagement shoot at sunset. It was a really beautiful shoot with a couple that clearly love each other to bits! The weather was totally on side with it being dry and not particularly windy considering we were right on the sea front in Portsmouth, and then the shoot ended with the most beautiful, warm sunset.
The Hot Walls in Old Portsmouth dates back to the 15th Century and was formally military barracks and after £1.75m development, it has recently been transformed into 13 creative studios alongside a deli-style food place. Even since the newly refurbished art studios and The Canteen rustic eatery have been put in last year, the site still retains character and has a lot to offer in the way of backdrops for engagement shoots. The Round Tower and Square Tower remain, with the beautiful arches up the stairs in The Square Tower and the top of The Round Tower backs on to the rockery fishing area. The beautiful Solent sea flows just behind the Hot Walls and looks so lovely at sunset.
If anyone is looking for a great location for an engagement shoot with a variety of backdrops, then definitely check out The Hot Walls at Old Portsmouth! It’s great that there is a esquisite Canteen there now too as if provides somewhere with atmosphere to wind down and have a drink and some nibbles after the shoot. Alternatively, there is a lovely pub called Spice Island just up the road from The Hot Walls, within a 5 minute walk.
