3 reasons to be present in your photos

3 reasons to be present in your photos

I can’t express how important it is to be in photos. It’s a subject I’m really passionate on and there’s a few reasons why. Often, when we take photos of our children, there’s the parent that’s in the photos and then the other parent is in the one taking the photos and doesn’t end up in any of them. I’m that parent that is alway’s behind the camera so have to take it upon myself to make sure that I am in photos with my daughter. I know many of you dislike having your photo taken / feel uncomfortable in front of the camera for whatever reason, but please let me explain 3 reasons to be present in your photos and you may just reconsider your opinion of being in front of the camera.

Some recent photos that I snapped of myself and my daughter with my camera on a tripod and using my iPhone as the remote trigger for the shutter button.

1. Photographs matter because they provide memories by freezing moments in time. Sharing a kiss or a cuddle, having fun, laughing together or even crying with your family. Photos allow you to look back at different points in your life and can often evoke emotions.

2. You only get older as each day passes so it’s nice to have a record of how you once looked and who you once were.

3. The significance of a photo might not even be for ourselves but instead for others. One Day all your children will have left of you will be photographs and your legacy can be passed down through generations to come. By being present in photos it allows later generations to see who that ancestors were. They may not know it yet, but your children will thank you for being present in photographs and giving them the opportunity to relive some happy memories with you. Photographs also can potentially provide some solace in moments of grief.

So, in conclusion, please make sure you are present in some photos…your children will thank you for it when they’re older!

Some photos that I snapped of the 3 of us when Ellie had just tuned one. Again, I had my camera on a tripod and used my iPhone as the remote trigger for the shutter button. It appears that I like the colour burgundy as I am wearing 3 different burgundy tops in the different photos.
